What a week...

So you would think that holiday's would be awesome when you are out in the real world. To some extent, yes they are awesome, but not when you have to make up for lost time because of the day you didn't work. That's right, this week I've been working over 10 hour days, but strangely enough, kind of enjoying it. Nevertheless, my job is going great. I'm learning a ton and I really enjoy my coworkers.

Took a bike ride on the Fayetteville trail the other night around 8:30pm...bad idea. The demographics of people that frequent the bike trail during the day as opposed to the evening hours is completely different...like night and day...sorry that was bad. Anyways, if you are looking for a way to increase your bike riding speed unconsciously, night riding could be the thing for you. I think I was pedaling as fast as my little legs could possibly go for about an hour. At one point of my adventure, I came up on a nice, portly, grungy, man with his hand around his belt. It appeared that he was pulling something out of his pants...well at least in my mind it looked like. I figured, great, he's got a knife. The only thing I had on this guy was the element of surprise and speed. So I tried pedalling even faster and went for the pass. As I'm passing, he acts like he is going to run at me but then stops and just smiles with one of those creepy smiles, like, "I'll see you next time on the trail." I basically cried myself home from that point. I thought it couldn't hurt the situation. Great times...stay classy Fayetteville. I love the bike trail. Its ingenious. A sustainable trail through the middle of town from one end to another. One minor flaw...it goes through the most sketchy areas in Fayetteville...warms the heart every time I'm on it. I digress.

Today...big news...attended a turkey kill plant for work.
You might be thinking, "what's a turkey kill plant?" Well lets break it down one word at a time. "Turkey": a large avian creature that produces meat which can be a healthier substitute for its four legged friend...the cow. In nature, they are quite beautiful when feathers are extended. In the production world, they are big, white, round, and can barely walk. "Kill": this is pretty self-explanatory; The End. "Plant": produces Oxygen...or in this case...boxes of edible turkey meat
Now that that's over, I attended my first plant visit and boy was it a way to start. A turkey kill plant operates so that live turkeys enter one door and leave out the back in a box, wrapped, and labeled in about 4 hours. Never have I seen more people waving knifes around and wearing hairnets. It was amazing! If a fight broke out in this place, without a doubt, everyone in the whole place would be cut to little bitty pieces. And then probably turned into meat for hotdogs....mmhhmmmm...Of course, since this is a "kill" plant, we had to see the "kill" process. Well folks, its not fun, not pretty and terribly stinky. I'm going to leave it at that. Just go to bed tonight and be thankful for what you have and that you don't have to be in that room everyday *STEPS OFF SOAP BOX* On the whole, the visit was awesome. We were treated like super stars and ate some great country cooking from a local establishment. Great day...Great Week

This blog's music is fairly fitting...well at least the title is. Video: "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" by Iron and Wine
