Prepare Yourself

So, it's the moment you are all waiting for. I made it back safely from Guatemala. This trip changed my life. And I know what you are saying, "everyone says that after a mission trip." But really, there was something different about this one for me. So, with that being said, I'm currently working on the blog posts to try and summarize the trip, emotions, and situations that I experienced in a week's time. Words are not going to do it justice, I can guarantee that. But, while you wait, enjoy this little picture from the trip (taken by a friend).

Here goes nothing...or something...

I've recently been reading a lot...of other people's blogs. I've been re-inspired to try harder at this blog experience. I realize I've said that a couple times on here, but I mean it this time. Plus, it is one of my New Year's Resolutions to write more so I want to follow through. The half marathon is already out of the way, and I can't tell you the last time I drank a Mountain Dew...two days ago...dang it. Anyways, when you read other people's blogs, you immediately feel like your life might not be as cool, or eventful, or meaningful. Hogwash. Those people are just good with words. The thing is is that every one's life is meaningful, and we are all here for a huge reason. At first, I had to convince myself of this and determine if I really had something to say on here. I feel like I do. So...here we are...on Saturday I'm leaving the country. This is a first step in a potential very long journey in my life. I will explain the "journey" in my life in the future. In the very close future, I'm headed to Guatemala on a mission trip with a church I've been going to for a couple years now. There is a group of 33 people going. Composition = college kids, college minded kids (like myself), middle agers (30s), family time (these would be families with older children), and others (people that appear ageless and I can't tell there age). I have not determined how I will fit in with this group but I'm very excited to find out. I hope these people are ready for my strangeness/humor/quirky behaviors. Sidenote: A quirky behavior that I realized I have is randomly singing a line of a song. I did this at work in a somewhat informal meeting today and everyone looked at me. I played it off as I was talking through some calculations in my head. Whew...no one questions a nerd. Gah...tangents...Guatemala...it's going to amazing. I'm super excited. I'm using up the rest of my vacation days...I don't care at all. I haven't determined if I'm going to take my computer or not to post blogs. I'm most likely just going to take my journal. Therefore, I'll have plenty of recorded stories and hopefully pictures to post when I get back. Just talking about this trip makes me smile. I might not come back, so in that case, I hope you have enjoyed the blog. This might be the last one. Adios Amigos.

Mark One Off

Today, I marked a New Year's Resolution off the list. I completed my first half marathon. It was a whole lot more fun than I anticipated and I spent the majority of my time laughing at this guy's stories that was running next to me.

Completing the half marathon made me very thankful that God has blessed me with a body to be able to do things like this. The human body is amazing and I'm continually amazed each day what you can push your body to do.
